dc.description.abstract | IT HAS BEEN REPORTED THAT WHEN A SHIP SAILS IN SHALLOW WATER, THE SHIP HAS A TENDENCY TO BE MORE STABLE, WHICH IS VERIFIED BY RESULTS FROM SIMULATIONS AND EXPERIMENTS, SUCH AS INCREASED TACTICAL DIAMETER ON TURNING CIRCLE TEST AND DECREASED OVERSHOOT ANGLES ON ZIG-ZAG TEST. THESE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SHIP IN SHALLOW WATER ARE ALSO SHOWN IN FRMT (FREE RUNNING MODEL TEST). IN THIS STUDY, TO ESTIMATE THE SHIP’S MANOEUVRABILITY IN SHALLOW WATER, FRMTS ON KVLCC2 (1/83.7) IN THREE WATER DEPTH CONDITIONS WERE CONDUCTED USING INDOOR FRMT SYSTEM. THE STABILITY OF KVLCC2 AFFECTED BY THE VARIATION OF WATER DEPTH WAS ANALYSED. TEST RESULTS SUCH AS TIME, TRAJECTORY AND OVERSHOOT ANGLES WERE COMPARED WITH OTHER RESULTS FROM SIMMAN2014 WORKSHOP. | - |
