dc.description.abstractKRISO carried out JIP project of WILS(Wave Induced Loads on Ships) during 2006~2014. The project performed segment model tests for 10,000 TEU container ship using backbone and obtained many noticeable results regarding springing, whipping, impact and slamming. Among them, this paper discusses whipping topics. Test results for typical non-resonant whipping cases are presented and discussed. Torsion natural frequency of container ship is generally smaller than bending frequency and the present test shows multiple torsion frequencies in the frequency region below 1 Hz unlike bending. In bending case, only one natural frequency is shown below 1 Hz. Therefore, torsion moment shows multiple peaks near the resonant frequency points in whipping tests. This paper also summarized the resonant whipping results and the bending and torsion cases are compared.impact and slamming. Among them, this paper discusses whipping topics.
