dc.description.abstractIn this study, a series of numerical simulations on the subsea installation operation(lift-off, slewing, over-boarding, lowering) considering heave compensators(Passive, Active and Combined type) are performed in regular and irregular wave conditions. The effect of heave compensator on heave response of lifted structure is investigated during the lowering operation. As the crane-tip motion of the installation vessel is the root cause of the dynamic behavior of the lifted structures, the feasibility of using a time series of the crane-tip motion as input data in simulation is also investigated, which provides useful information for the decision on the initiation of the lowering operation in offshore field.conditions.
