dc.description.abstractModel tests for a large semi-submersible platform in extreme condition with mooring line failure were carried out in the ocean basin at KRISO. In this experiment, the model scale was determined in consideration of the size of basin and thegenerated wave range to 1/50. The Large Semi-Submersible Platform is moored by catenary mooring as spread type. In order to estimate the performance of mooring line, the experiments are conducted in combined environments, initially brokencondition and suddenly broken line condition. Maximum tension is checked based on the regulation. The moment of broken mooring line was determined by former tests in intact condition.
