dc.description.abstractDeep-sea manganese nodules are located at the surface of sedimentary layer. Particle of the sedimentary layer can affect to the reliability of mining robot while the layer is considered important in ecological environment of deep-sea. Therefore it is required to collect the manganese nodules effectively without any disturbance on the sedimentary layer. Hydraulic type nodule collectors which uses Coanda effect are developed because the hydraulic types are of great advantage to ecological environment of deep-sea, easy to operate and have high reliability. However, since the nodule collector assumes the size and weight of nodules as fixed values, shape information which is collected in situ can not adopted for evaluating performances fo the nodule collector. In addition, since collecting performance of the collector is greatly influenced by size and weight of nodules, these two factors have to be considered. In this paper, we develop a numericalmodel for the hydraulic type nodule collector that considers the statistical information of nodule data and check the change of collecting performances.-
