dc.description.abstract | The prediction of resistance and propulsion performance for the route optimization is important work when the safe voyage planning system is being developed. The resistance increase of a ship is caused by not only ship’s conditions but also various external forces such as current, wave, wind and ice conditions. This paper describes the prediction methods using for the resistance and propulsion performance for the sea route optimization. These comprehensive prediction methods are consisted with speed trial analysis methods of the ISO 15016:2002 standard, various correction methods of water temperature and salt content deviation, and a few supplemented analysis methods of the wind resistance, hull roughness andpropeller roughness. These prediction methods have been applied to the computer program, which can be a useful tool for the route optimization not only in Arctic sea but also in global shipping. | - |
