dc.description.abstractFor using high temperature difference between over 75℃ as heat source and 5℃ as heat sink, 100kW high temperature ocean thermal energy conversion(H-OTEC) was designed and manufactured. We've researched using higher temperature heat source from waste heat and deep sea water instead of traditional heat sink. Such an enough temperature difference between heat source and heat sink shows the possibility of the efficient generation and that plays an important role in supplying renewable energy for distributed local demands. In this paper, to perform an experiment on the 100kW H-OTEC plant, an organic rankine cycle was designed and fabricated. R245fa was used as the working fluid, and the temperature of the heatsource and heat sink were 75℃ and 5℃ respectively. The heat exchangers for evaporator and condenser were manufactured by Titanium and Oxynitride coating(SPCC) plates resisting to sea water corrosion, and the hybrid ocean thermal energy conversion cycle was designed for a gross power of 100kW. The H-OTEC plant was installed in Seawater Utilization Plant Research Center at Gosung-gun, Gangwon-do. The H-OTEC plants was tested to analyze the operation performance and compare the efficiency of both H-OTEC plants with condensers of Titanium and Oxynitriding steel heat exchangers.
