dc.description.abstract | A real-time emergency response plan might be essential to monitor and prediction the diffusion of HNS exposed accidentally to the atmosphere from a chemical cargo ship near the Korean peninsula. The proposed emergency monitoring system consists of a series of domains such as one main-domain with 9 km grid resolution watching the entire sea surrounding the Korean peninsula always together with thirteen sub-domains with 3 km grid resolution along the frequent chemical cargo ship routes. Whenever a HNS spill accident occurs in the monitoring target area, a series of simulation for HNS behaviors in the atmosphere has activated automatically with downscaling up to 1 km detailed domain, which is designed the center of pre-set sub-domain to be located to the ship accident position. The WRF-Chem model has been chosen to estimate behavior of the target chemicals based on the weather conditions. The initial meteorological data to be used in the WRF-Chemhas obtained from the NCEP FNL Operational Global Analysis data on 0.25° x 0.25° grids. The system has been designed to restart every 6 hours whenever the initial data updated. Also, the predictions with previous initial data have been saved for the case of no updated initial data. Considering the existence of barrier in the weather prediction caused by cold start we have to allow to heat up time to obtain a reasonable simulated data.
