dc.description.abstract | In order to analyze the reason of ship collision accident, it is necessary to reproduce the collided ships’ navigation data and play back the actual collision accident. The replay simulation system of ship collision accident (RESCA) has been newly developed in KRISO. In RESCA, replay simulation is possible by using actual VTS data of collided ships. Collided two ships can be shown on Electronic Navigation Chart (ENC) based display together with traffic ships. To help more effective analysis, three dimensional (3D) display is also implemented on a basis of virtual reality. Especially, to investigate the navigational human error during the actual colliding situation, avoidance steering simulation is necessary. The collision avoidance action of collided ship can be simulated by using ship maneuvering model. The position, speed and heading of collided ship can be estimated in avoidance simulation. The estimated trajectories of avoiding ship can be simultaneously overlaid with the actual trajectories of accident data. Therefore, it is very helpful to understand the reason and possibility of avoidance in the ship collision accident. In order to validate the performance of RESCA, the replay simulations are carried out together with avoidance simulations on the actual ships collision accident. In this paper, main features of RESCA and the results of simulations are described. | - |
