dc.description.abstractFloat-over operations can be more efficient than lifting operations for heavy weight topside. Model tests and numerical analysis had been used for the estimation of float-over operations. The model test for float-over sequence was performed in the ocean basin of KRISO. The experiment for docking operations which installs the topside on the jacket, was performed. The validity of results were examined through numerical simulations. Free decay test results for soft moored vessel had a good agreement. But the surge period for docking stage experiment did not agree with numerical results, due to nonlinear stiffness of mating line. Horizontal motions such as sway and yaw had a large response in irregular wave tests with wave heading of 270degree. This motions directly affect tension of warping line. Tether response was affected by surge and pitch motions in 180degree irregular wave. The effect of wave period was also investigated in this experiment. The future study will be performed with the consideration of linear spring conditions for mating lines. Furthermore additional numerical analysis will be conducted.-
