dc.description.abstractThis paper studies especially on the buckling behavior of thick cylinder subject to lateral pressure and axial compressive pressure. Theoretical and experimental analyses of the buckling of thick-walled circular cylinder are presented. The effect of such responses needs a very careful observation. Strains at specific locations were recorded with strain gauges and comparison was done with the numerical analysis result. Nonlinear finite element analysis was done to investigate if the rupture of the pressure vessel was due to the buckling or deformation due to the material nonlinearity. Nonlinear buckling analysis was conducted and studied. The circular thick-walled cylinder was designed according to the ASME Section VIII Division 1 design codes.-
