dc.description.abstract | Recently, a decreasing trend of ice coverage in the Arctic Ocean has been reported continuously. This phenomenon is now commonly accepted all over the world. In addition, it has been newly researched that the oil and gas reserves locating in the Arctic area research to 22% of the world‧s reserves. These circumstances attract large interest in the development of arctic technologies including station-keeping of arctic offshore structures. In the design of station-keeping method for offshore structure in the Arctic sea, the global ice load acting on the structure plays basic and important role. In order to consider the global ice load in the design of station-keeping method, KRISO has recently developed experimental techniques. An experimental performance evaluation method for dynamic positioning (DP) system has been developed and the first trial of DP experiment in pack ice condition was conducted in KRISO’s ice tank. In this paper an introduction for the new arctic DP experimental setup and the first trial with it are given and discussed | - |
