dc.description.abstract | Permanent magnet (PM) machines are becoming popular as a key technology for applications such as home appliances, industrial tools, and electric vehicles. This is because of their high efficiency, high power density, and low maintenance costs. It is very important to consider the power losses in the initial design stage itself, because they determine the efficiency of the machine and have a significant influence on its operating cost. The copper losses of the stator windings, iron losses of core, rotor loss, and the mechanical losses due to windage and friction are well known. In this paper, we analyze the parameters affecting the electromagnetic loss (copper loss, iron loss, and rotor loss). From the analysis results, design points where the efficiency and heat generation characteristics of the PM generator can be optimized are presented. | - |
