dc.description.abstract | In case of marine accidents, flooding from collision and grounding can affect the ship’s behavior in the time domain. To control the emergency situation not to sink or capsize the ship, damage stability should be calculated in the early phase of the accident by the crew to convince the safety of the damaged ship. With damage stability calculation result, crews have to decide the work level and scope of damage control for waterproofing. Water pump operation, water-tight doorand hatch control also should be decided in that process of decision making. However, it is difficult to get exact information for the damage stability calculation in that urgent situation. In addition, the calculation result are not reliable since the crews are in panic and the calculation result can not consider the damaged ship in the real wave. For the precision estimation of the damaged ship’s behavior in the time domain, inner ship structure, shape of hole and wave information such as wave entrance angle, significant wave height and wave periods considered computational flooding simulations are required. For that reason, some concepts are introduced to use computational flooding simulation result for the damage control decision making in the form of database.
