dc.description.abstract | Hyper-elastic materials such as rubber, polymer and etc, have various characteristics like large deformation under small load, excellent vibration damping ability, high energy absorption ability and low noise characteristic. Due to extraordinary properties, hyper-elastic materials are utilized in various types of fields. Especially, in marine and offshore engineering field, the hyper-elastic material has been mainly used as a fender for anti-shock or as a mount to reduce noise and vibration of equipment. However, due to the development of material technology, range of application of the hyper-elastic material has widen its territory by far. Therefore, highly accurate analysis techniques on the behavior of hyper-elastic material are essential for safety design. A variety of material models for describing behavior of hyper-elastic material have been developed based on strain energy density function. However, it is difficult to describe all of various hyper-elastic material under a specified material model because of the variety of hyper-elastic materials. Therefore, the selection of nonlinear material models to simulate the characteristic of considered hyper-elastic materials affects the numerical analysis result. In this study, in order to review the importance of choosing models of nonlinear materials, a comparative study on the effect of model selection to numerical analysis results were performed.
