dc.description.abstractIn this paper, a series of numerical wind tunnel tests on superstructures of operating ships are performed to a range of incident angles with different arrangement of superstructure to predict aerodynamic drag and understand local flow characteristics. The flow fields are solved using a commercial CFD software, STAR-CCM+, which is solving the continuity and RaNS (Reynolds- averaged Navier-Stokes) equations as the governing equation for incompressible and viscous flow. In the beginning step, the numerical simulation of 3-D separation flow around a bottom-mounted cube is carried out to verify the software through the comparison with pre-published experiments. And then the CFD simulation of wind flow around a container ship with different container loading patterns is performed and compared with the regression formulas suggested by Fujiwara et al. (2006), Blendermann (1994) and ITTC (2006) derived from experiments.-
