dc.description.abstract | During the LNG transferring process, 5K LNG bunkering shuttle(LNG BS) is moored to floating LNG bunkering terminal(FLBT) with mooring ropes and fenders, and 30K LNG BS might be located in front of 5K LNG BS in order to receive LNG from FLBT. In this circumstance, the wave excitation force is shielded by FLBT or 30K LNG BS, which can reduce the motion response of 5K LNG BS and the tensions on ship-to-ship mooring lines installed at 5K LNG BS. In this paper, shielding effect of a 5K LNG BS by the FLBT or a 30K LNG BS was studied experimentally. Model tests were performed in the ocean engineering basin of Korea Research Institute of Ships and Ocean Engineering. Regular and irregular waves were generated in head sea condition and bow quartering sea. The shielding effect was confirmed by comparing the motion responses and the ship-to-ship mooring lines’ tensions in the single body, two bodies, and three bodies cases. | - |
