dc.description.abstractTo achieve sustainable development goals (SDGs) in the tropical island countries that are suffering from climate change, we plan to demonstrate and utilize ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC) plant. To this end, 1MW OTEC demonstration plant was designed in 2015 that received AIP (Approval in Principle) by BV (Bureau Veritas). and is being manufactured part by part since 2016. The plant will be installed and demonstration experiment will be carried out on the shore of Tarawa, Kiribati around 2020. To enhance the effectiveness of OTEC plant in the viewpoints of performance as well as economics, we are trying to improve every key part through enforcement design before manufacturing. As the result, magnetic bearing for turbine and asymmetric plate for condenser were applied.-
