The CO2 terminal has various forms depending on the CO2 transportation methods connecting the capture and the storage sites. Unfortunately, there are very few actual CCS projects that utilize CO2 terminals, and studies on the composition, function, and role of CO2 terminals are lacking. Only a few studies addressed CO2 intermediate storage facilities. In this regard, this study aims to derive the basic functions of the CO2 terminal for 1Mt scale offshore CCS project using function modeling. The method is used in this study named the Integration DEFinition For Function Modeling (IDEF0). The IDEF0 diagram represents an integrated diagram of the inputs, control, outputs, and mechanisms for functions. The IDEF0 allows us to understand the correlation between functions derived from the structural analysis. In this study, we derived seven lower-level functions of the CO2 terminal, ‘Unload LCO2’, ‘Load vapor CO2’, ‘Receive LCO2’, ‘Keep LCO2’, ‘Transmit LCO2’, ‘Generate Vapor CO2’, ‘Increase LCO2 T&P’. And then, IDEF0 is used to identify the correlation between these functions. The results can be used to develop a process flow block diagram for a conceptual design of the CO2terminal.-
