dc.description.abstract | This paper compares effect of velocity potential components of waves in time domain finite element analysis for full ship. Three cases such as incident potential only, diffraction components (incident+scattering potentials) and all components (incident+scattering+radiation potentials) were compared. An container ship was analyzed as an example study. Wave potentials were analyzed by higher order boundary element method (HOBEM) and time domain structural analysis were done for the ship by finite element method (FEM) with shell elements in regular and irregular waves. Stresses at midship were compared for the three cases of potential combination. The variation of stress and its error versus wave length ratio wasalso discussed. | - |
