dc.description.abstract | The present study considers the wave impact load on a circular cylinder by breaking waves. A model test was carried out to measure the wave impact loads due to breaking waves in the 2D wave tank. In order to generate the breaking wave, a focusing wave method was applied. The wave impact loads were measured by slightly changing the location of cylinder with regards to the position of breaking wave. In the model test, pressure sensors of piezo-electric(PE) and integrated circuit piezo-electric (IEPE) types and force sensors of strain-gauge and piezo-electric types were used to measure the wave impact loads. The test was repeated 20 times for each sensor and test cases. The uncertainty on the wave impact load due to the breaking wave is discussed based on the measured data. Variations of the rising and decay times according to the sensor types are also discussed in this paper. | - |
