dc.description.abstractIn this study, we study the wave absorbing performance of a double layer wave absorber design with inner vertical plates between the layers. A deep ocean engineering basin (DOEB) is under construction in Busan, Korea, which will be one of the world largest ocean engineering basin. It is vital to generate waves with sufficient quality; therefore, the wave absorbing system is essentially required inside the basin. This study focuses on the development of the wave absorbing system in DOEB to curtail the effect of reflected wave effectively. At the beginning of the study, a double layer wave absorbing system is developed, and inner vertical plates are added to the double layer wave absorbing system to have better wave absorbing performance. A series of model testings in the 2D wave flume are performed with the scaled wave absorbing system, and numerical calculations based on the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) are also conducted under the same condition with the model testing. Results obtained by model testing and CFD analysis are discussed, in addition, the effects of the inner vertical plates in between layers of wave absorber are also examined.-
