In maritime navigation developed together with technology, many operators are confused with redundant data provided to route planning. As a result, the route planning has had significant discrepancies among people. These discrepancies make it hard to identify the situation correctly and achieve the goal of the navigational route. Utilizing various sources of data given to operators, this study proposes a purpose-oriented technique for intuitive route planning. The technique is based on the concept of risk isoline curves and applied algorithm on them. First, an assessment of the route risk is conducted. Then, a risk isoline is drawn to express sparse data as continuous information. Next, a route planning methodology consisting of parameters and algorithm is detailed. In order to verify its applicability, the proposed technique was applied to case studies, such as route planning simulations, accident analysis, and training designs. The proposed technique uses quantitative and objective methodology with regard to the route planning.-
