dc.description.abstractIn this research, we performed 3-dimensional topology optimization of fixed offshore structure based on solid isotropic material with penalization (SIMP). A volume constraint is applied in the topology optimization to utilize same amount of material volume as in the rule scantling design. To investigate the effect of main legs of fixed offshore structure on the structural stiffness, resulting designs of topology optimization including the leg region as design domain and excluding it from design domain is compared. For experimental validation of topology optimization, obtained optimal designs and rule scantling based design of fixed offshore structure are manufactured by utilizing 3-D metal printing technology.Performance of each designs are compared by structural test with UTM (Universal Testing Machine) under compressive loading.-
