The Republic of Korea is deeply interested in R-Mode, which is emerging as a new terrestrial radio navigation system. The Republic of Korea·s interest has led to its participation in R-Mode standardization, which is being pursued intensively by the International Association of Lighthouse Authorities (IALA). As you are familiar with, R-Mode allows radio resources that were previously being used as maritime communication to be used as radio resources that can be used to measure distances, such as Loran-C. Current R-Mode-enabled offshore communication resources are MF (Medium Frequency) in the 300kHz band used for DGPS/DGLONASS service and VHF (Very High Frequency) in the 160MHz band used as AIS and VDES. Given that Korea has abundant communication resources that are subject to R-Mode, we expect that R-Mode along with the LORAN-C infrastructure will play an important role as part of the terrestrial radio navigation system for maritime safety in Korea. This paper describes the results of the analysis of performance and expected effects in case of R-Mode service in Korea. In addition, through the analysis results, this paper showed that the performance prediction results of the R-Mode service are very positive, especially if it is integrated with the eLoran service scheduled for future operation. Finally, in this paper, we explained the planned R-Mode technology development plan of Korea based on the results analyze-
