dc.description.abstract | The aim of this study was to investigate the uncertainty of experimental procedures for free running model tests in order to present quantified and objective benchmark data. Free running model tests, turning circle and zigzag tests, were repeatedly conducted with 1/65.833 scaled KCS model to analyse the effect of initial ship state on the manoeuvring indices, such as advance, tactical diameter, and overshoot angles. From results of turning circle and zigzag tests, manoeuvring indices were obtained, and analysed with sensitivity coefficients from simulation results in terms of initial state deviation, such as speed, yaw rate, and drift angle. As a result, Ad values showed smaller standard deviation after correction. This paper addresses the idea that how free running model tests should be conducted and analysed with repeat tests. | - |
