S is a GPS augmentation system used in aviation and has been developed to comply with the requirements of aviation-related international organizations. Suggestions and various activities have been recently witnessed by agencies related to EGNOS, the European Union·s SBAS, to use SBAS in the marine sector. In view of the fact that SBAS will also be developed in Korea and will be in full operation from the end of 2022, this paper looked into the things that must be considered to utilize SBAS in the marine sector. The GNSS augmentation system used in the marine is a system operated for maritime safety. For this reason, it should be verified that the minimum required performance specified by internationalorganizations can be sufficiently met. They should also be able to maintain compatibility that does not affect users using MF beacons correction information. This paper explains that the problem of compliance with the standard and the required performance prescribed for maritime safety must be considered if SBAS is to be utilized in the marine sector.-
