In most marine PNT areas, including maritime navigation, the use of global navigation satellite system (GNSS) has long been a must. However, it is true that the marine PNT sector has not provided a realistic alternative to vulnerabilities to radio interference with GNSS. Along with the GPS operated by the U.S., it proposed to use the other GNSS’s, such as GLONASS, BeiDou, and Galileo, operated by other countries at the same time. However, this proposal is also not intended to address the vulnerability of the satellite based radio navigation systems due to radio interference. This paper introduces the eLoran, one of the ground based radio navigation systems, which is being presented as the most likely way to address the vulnerability of GNSS, and the status of eLoran pilot service being built in Republic of Korea. In addition, among the various applications available in the eLoran pilot service environment, the importance of timing synchronization utilization is explored. Finally, this paper proposes a user system architecture for timing synchronization application as a backup system using GNSS simultaneously in eLoran pilot service environment.-
