dc.description.abstractThe wave-induced responses of cylindrical fixed structure with or without a hydroelastic effect are evaluated in this study. Numerical and experimental methods are used to assess the wave-induced responses, and the results by each method are compared. In numerical analysis, panel method with and without a hydroelastic effect with shell elements and Morison equation with beam analysis are applied. Model test is performed in 3-dimensional ocean engineering basin of KRISO(Korea Research Institute of Ships and Ocean Engineering). In the model of cylindrical fixed structure, two cases are considered. One is the case that has little hydroelastic effect due to high strength of the structure, and the other is the one that has large hydroelastic effect by low structural strength. Regular and irregular wave conditions are considered, and in case of regular wave analyses are conducted considering the ratio of diameter of the structure and a wavelength. The displacements at the top of cylindrical fixed structure and stresses on structure itself are assessed and compared with other analysis methods.-
