dc.description.abstractIn this study, a series of model tests were carried out to evaluate the performance on the floatover docking operation of a semi-submersible with a DP Deck Transportation Vessel (DTV). The model tests were performed in the ocean engineering basin of Korea Research Institute of Ships and Ocean Engineering (KRISO). DP system was installed in DTV for station keeping, consisted of 7 thrusters (4 Azimuth thrusters and 3 tunnel thrusters). This DP system was tested with POW, bollard pull tests. Also, interaction effects were found during thruster-hull and thruster-thruster interaction tests. Irregular wave tests were performed under several docking stages and 3 wave headings. The discussion is made on the effects ofdocking stage, wave heading, significant wave height(Hs) and seed variations. Two body interaction was considered between DTV and semi-submersible at each stage. At each stage, the fender reaction force was differentiated because of the relative position. The surge fender force was found in only a mating position. The responses were overall larger in long wave conditions on vessel motion, fender force, mooring tension and thrust. The responses were overall small including horizontal motion both DTV and semi-submersible during docking model test.-
