dc.description.abstract | A series of experiments were performed at ocean engineering basin (OEB) of KRISO to measure the added resistance in waves. The model ship is 1/55 scale KSUPRAMAX-O bulk carrier ship. The model ship was moored using a soft-mooring system, and added resistance was measured from the force obtained from the load cells installed bow and stern of the ship. The experiment was performed under regular wave and bichromatic wave condition, and the speed of the model was 4 knots. For regular waves, the model test was performed for 10 wavelengths with a wavelength to ship length ratio of 0.3 to 1.5. The experiment was performed for 3 bichromatic wave condition, and the added resistance obtained from the bichromatic wave were compared with the results of regular waves. The added resistance measured in the bichromatic wave showed a smaller value than the supposition of the added resistance obtained in the regular waves. | - |
