dc.description.abstract | This paper is mainly concerned with the digital manufacturing technologies in the context of the shipbuilding industry. New concepts such as digital shipbuilding, virtual shipyard, and simulation-based design (SBD) will be explored. After reviewing the digital shipbuilding, a case study will be presented using the virtual assembly simulation system for shipbuilding (VASSS), a simulation based tool, to evaluate block erection sequence taking account of shipyard facilities, operational efficiency and equipment replacement time. | - |
