dc.description.abstract | Free running tests have been carried out for a high-speed medium size container ship to estimate her maneuverability. The tests have been done at a lake due to the large size of model and high speed. The test results show that the ship has a good course keeping and yaw check ability, but poor turning ability. Comparing the predicted maneuvering performance with IMO criteria, the ship does not satisfy the IMO criteria of turning ability. Based on the test data and simulation results, it is estimated that the rudder area should be increased more than 30% to meet the IMO turning criteria. | - |
