dc.description.abstract | The IMO requires Ro-Ro passenger ships to be tested for their evacuation performance in the early stage of design by Circ. 909 to improve the safety of passengers. Due to the limitations of this static regulation, the IMO made it interim and many research teams are developing new evacuation models based on microscopic simulation. Korea Research Institute of Ships and Ocean Engineering(KRISO) launched 2 year long project to develop a new maritime evacuation model, IMEX(Intelligent Model for EXtrication simulation). In this paper, we define evacuation model and briefly discuss some models and their limitations, then we focus on describing the configuration, feature, and status of IMEX that is designed to overcome those limitations. Finally, future research plans are also given. | - |
