dc.description.abstractWe developed a computer program for underwater acoustic channel modeling which can be used to simulate the time-domain signal transmission through the underwater channel. The developed program is based on the ray theory and thus exploits the eikonal and the transport equations to calculate the frequency-domain pressure field at the designated receiver position. Through recursively tracing a fan of rays, it seeks for eigen rays which are possible signal transmission paths between the source and receiver and then calculates the received pressure field in time-domain by Fourier synthesis of the frequency-domain solutions. Because the ray theory is based on high frequency approximation which is appropriate for general acoustic telemetry, it is believed to be useful for the underwater acoustic channel simulation as well as the performance analysis of underwater acoustic communication system.-
