Abstract
A numerical technique on hydroelastic response of VLFS(Very Large Floating Structure) in extreme wave condition with considering horizontal mooring response is introduced. The horizontal mooring response of VLFS is analyzed by a simple spring-mass model. The horizontal motion of the VLFS is based on the Eulerian description of motion. The free surface motion is solved by the classical potential flow theory. The hydroelastic response of the VLFS is modeled by the Mindlin plate. Finite-element method based on the variational formulation is adopted for the analysis of the fluid motion and the elastic response of VLFS. Time domain solution for the horizontal motion and hydroelastic response is compared with those of the model experiment.
