dc.description.abstract | As maritime traffics increase and ships get bigger and faster, the risk of maritime accident increases and the efficiency of marine traffic becomes worse. According to the recent reports on maritime accidents, more than 60% of the maritime accidents occur due to navigational mistakes and/or human errors. Even though many kinds of navigation systems, such as GNSS, AIS, ECDIS, INS, based on new technology have been developed to reduce maritime accidents, these systems are sometimes too complicated for navigators to make appropriate decisions quickly and accurately. This is one of the main reasons why navigation systems with intuitive human interfaces have been requested. And AR(Augmented Reality) technology may make this possible by displaying various navigational information directly on the real image. In this paper, the new concept of maritime navigation support system based on AR has been suggested with easy and effective user interface. | - |
