- Abstract
- A comparative study on paints applied on a naval ship has been performed using well known IR signature analysis software, ShipIR/NTCS. An unclassified destroyer model is used to investigate the effect of surface paint and seasonal change of the ship IR signature. Monthly averaged climate data for both January and July have been applied to investigate seasonal change of IR signature. Simulation results show that ship IR signature could be decreased significantly by using low solar absorptivity paint. Ship IR signature in winter climate condition becomes much larger than summer.
