dc.description.abstract | Typically, sea trials of newly constructed ships are conducted under ballast draft condition, and the added resistance in waves is one of the crucial factors for analyzing trial results. This study estimated the added resistance and self-propulsion performance of the KSUPRAMAX-O ship, under heavy-ballast draft condition. To achieve this, model test was conducted at the DOEB (Deep Ocean Engineering Basin) in Busan. In the model tests, a soft-mooring technique was applied, and experiments were carried out at mainly designed speed. The model tests were conducted in two phases: the added resistance tests without a propeller and the self-propulsion tests with propeller-induced thrust. During the self-propulsion tests, the propeller operated at the full-scale self-propulsion point. The added resistance and self-propulsion performance in waves were evaluated. Furthermore, various methods outlined in the ITTC Recommended Procedures were utilized to assess the power increase in specific sea states. | - |
