dc.description.abstractThe equatorial region's hot and humid climate, with an average daytime temperature of more than 30℃ and humidity of more than 60% throughout the year, makes fish and food, which are the main staples of the local diet, easily spoil, so there is always a demand for refrigeration. In addition, there is also a high demand for ice-making for long-term storage and sale of fish, which is the main source of livelihood for local people, but it is difficult to meet the high demand due to high electricity costs and lack of facilities. To solve this problem, an intercooled refrigeration and ice-making cycle to utilize Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion(OTEC) discharge water for refrigeration and ice-making was proposed, and compared the performance of six types of refrigerants mainly used for refrigeration and ice-making. In particular, assuming the application of OTEC in the equatorial region, the system performance was improved by applying 11℃, the temperature of deep water discharge water, as a heat sink. For a load size of 140 kW refrigeration capacity and 70 kW ice-making capacity, R717 showed the highest COP in refrigeration and the lowest refrigerant mass flow rate for ice-making. In addition, the refrigeration-ice-making cycle with intercooler showed an average COP improvement of 9.1% compared to the basic refrigeration cycle.-
