Abstract
Recently, as the performance of valves changes and deteriorates depending on operating conditions and operating environment, the valve used in industrial plants such as nuclear power plant diagnosis through real-time monitoring is required. The valves must undergo functional qualification. A test-based methodology is needed when performing verification of the remaining similar valves using the qualification results of the representative valve. In this study, computational fluid dynamics analysis was used to calculate the force transmitted to the valve plug by considering the actual situation where the stroke speed changes using the flow coefficient and pressure ratio. Using this, an analysis method was presented to calculate the force added to the valve under high-temperature and high-pressure operating conditions where experiments are impossible. The results of this study can be used as a test-based methodology applicable to new valve qualification standards.
