This paper presents the design and testing of a rotor volume model (RVM) for electromechanical systems using the torque parameters of noncontact magnetic couplings (MCs). The torque density of MCs is closely related to the geometry of the rotor structure. This becomes the main factor for achieving high torque density, miniaturization, and light weight. Therefore, the magnetization, magnetic vector potential, and magnetic flux density were compared using finite element analysis (FEA) in the boundary conditions of each region using electromagnetic transfer relation (ETR). Additionally, the torque was calculated according to the rotor position. Furthermore, the torque per rotor volume (TRV) curve was calculated by deriving the rotor design parameters that directly affect the torque density. The torque parameters that affect the rotor volume are the residual magnetic flux density of the permanent magnet (PM), inner and outer diameters, air gap, and stack length. An RVM was used to optimize magnetic torque and size. Finally, an MC is designed and fabricated to verify the RVM by comparing its ETR, FEA, and confinement test results.-
